A Personal Yoga Practice

We are all completely unique and therefore require different things from our yoga practice. I offer one-to-one yoga consultations with the intention of creating a personalised yoga practice, drawn and written out for ease of use. This can then be taught in further one-to-one sessions as required, or used for practising at home in the student’s own time.

A personal practice can be written for anyone wanting to explore yoga, whether experienced or a complete beginner – for general wellbeing or with a therapeutic need in mind. The student is met at their starting point, whatever that may be.

Yoga Therapy

A yoga practice doesn’t have to be complicated with lots of challenging postures (unless that’s appropriate!). Simple movements with a focus on the breath can be very powerful and bring healing in many different ways. The key aspect is to encourage the flow of prāna (energy) to all areas, and engage the mind at the same time. Learning how to activate the rest/repair response in the human system (the opposite of fight/flight) is also crucial to the healing process.  A personal yoga practice, done on a regular basis and with a continued relationship with a teacher, has been found to assist with many areas of health, such as:

I offer a free 15 minute phone conversation to see how Viniyoga might work for you.

A one-to-one yoga consultation follows which takes about 1.5 hours. We talk about your needs and wishes and some observations of the breath and simple movements are made. We then look at the appropriate yoga tools to suit and I create a drawn and written out personal practice for you. I teach you the practice and you then take it with you to use on a regular basis at home. We can have follow up phone calls to discuss any details or answer any questions you may have.

Follow-up consultations, from half to one hour, can then be used to discuss the practice, observe the effects, and make any modifications where needed.

There is also the option for the full personal practice to be taught as a private class
